There’s only one way to defeat procrastination – Do something!

Are you a habitual procrastinator? This quiz will help you identify areas where you can take action to overcome procrastination today:

- Do you have a filing system for keeping track of your long-term and short-term projects?

- Do you believe that the right atmosphere plays an important role in determining your productivity? Do you try to design work areas so that they help you to stay focused on the task you’re doing now?

How to overcome procrastination – Accept responsibility

All procrastination is the result of deluding ourselves. Procrastinators deny reality, refusing to accept responsibility for their lives. To defeat procrastination, we must stop playing games with ourselves. You can’t overcome procrastination until you accept the fact that you are responsible for what you make of your life. That may be more honesty than many people are capable of, but there is no other way to achieve a richer life.

Why you need an action plan to defeat procrastination

Procrastination is the main reason people fail to live richer lives. If you haven’t been reaching your goals, you may need to make a greater commitment. And the only reliable measure of commitment is action. When you delay getting started on a job or fail to complete a job you’ve already started, always ask yourself why you’re not working on it:

1. I can’t do it and I don’t want to do it.
2. I can do it but I don’t want to.
3. I want to do it but I can’t.
4. I can do it and I want to.

Win the war against procrastination – The battle begins in your mind

Mark Twain had something to say about almost any topic you can imagine. On the subject of how to avoid procrastination, Twain said, “Never put off until tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.” Everyone can enjoy the humor in Twain’s comment. But for many of us, Twain’s insight on the danger of procrastination is painfully true.

Don’t let procrastination keep you down

Author Denis Waitley believes that one of the main causes of procrastination is a fear of success. “People procrastinate because they are afraid of the success that they know will result if they move ahead now,” he explains. And Miguel Cervantes, the author of Don Quijote, wrote that “delay always breeds danger, and to protract a great design is often to ruin it.”

Yoga for peace..

There is so much stress and tension in some people’s lives that you may end the weekly session. Usually you will get a discount from being a regular. Another thing is that you can get a specific message to turn your energy from a negative to a positive one. It’s called Reikki. This type of message is where the therapist will take away your negative energy and replace it with their positive energy. It is an incredible thing to do and you will feel 100 times better about yourself as soon as you get up. If a message is not what you’d like, you may want to go and take a yoga class.

Today we went and bought a grate..

for our bunny.

What does a bunny need a grate for, I might hear you ask?  Well.. unfortunately although he is toilet trained and uses a litter tray, he has these big bunny feet that tend to flick the litter all over the place!  I have read that some bunnys will tolerate a grate over the litter so that it does not get flicked everywhere!

Whilst I was on the webs searching for grates, I came across fire grates, which really do look just like fancy bunny litter box toilet stations! (Although at $220 for the cheapest, I think we will be staying a little more utilitarian at this stage!)   As often happens – I get carried away looking at period architecture and period architectural fittings.  I found some glorious designer grates as well as some antiques ones.  Other people are like me, such as the writer of the Architectural Classics Blog which looks great.  I’ve signed up because it looks right up my alley (or fireplace flue as the case may be!)

Snowmobile

Well winter is coming in Australia and I’m starting to think about what to do for out winter break.  I don’t think I’m fit enough to go out cross-country, and downhill skiing may be a bit expensive for the 4 of us.  perusing the web, I came across a snowmobile dealer site and it’s got me to thinking that this could be alot of fun!

People who are just starting out with their love of snowmobiles might not have any idea what to look for when they are trying to pick out the right snowmobile to fit their needs. With the high cost of new snowmobiles and the uncertainty of used ones, buying a snowmobile can be an intimidating venture. With a little bit of research and some buying tips, a new snowmobiler can be confident in making a snowmobile purchase.

For first-time snowmobiler owners, buying a used snowmobile might be the best option. Investing a lot of money into a brand new snowmobile when you are not sure how long your enthusiasm will last could lead to a waste of money for something to sit in storage for years. Purchasing a used machine will allow you to gain experience on a snowmobile that has been broken in already. This will help you learn the nuances that go along with gliding across the snowy landscape rather than needing to learn the feel of a snowmobile that has never been ridden.

First tin whistle..

lesson went really well!!

My teacher said I had good tone, leaps ahead of most beginnig students, so we actually started on learning some of the musical ornamentation that goes around the notes and that gives it its uniquely Irish feel.

I must say, learning with a teacher is much better than trying to teach yourself at home.  I’ve never had a music teacher and I can see why people do.. it so much easier than learning out of a book.  SHe has suggested that I take a tape recorder along next time so that I can record the lessons and go over them again because alot of it is done by ear and hard to notate.

It’s making me think twice about the language classes I took online and why I gave up.  Having a real life teacher makes all of the difference.  There are some sites out there that have personal teachers french and German Courses in your home or office.  A much better idea I think!!

A little bit of humor can do wonders to lift the tension, or worse boredom when making your speech. That way, you’ll get the attention of the majority of the crowd and they’ll feel that you’re just as approachable, and as human to those who listen.
