Self Reliance and Constructive Change Through Meditation

Sometimes you need to just take a moment to relax, to appreciate the world around you, to get in tune with your inner-self… a moment to just be you. Meditation can give you this moment. Not a gimmick or a scheme, not a quick fix or a shady deal, meditation is an age-old tradition passed down through cultures and celebrated throughout time. Meditation clears your mind and allows for the free passage of spiritual ideas and prophetic thoughts. While meditation may seem like nothing more than a way to kill time or a quirky fad, it can lead you to a better life.

The thing most inhibiting the changes people need in their lives is stress. We are too stressed about our jobs, our relationships, and our T.V. shows…heck, even our pets! We obsess and stress over every teeny-tiny and minute thing until it drives us crazy. With all this stress, it’s a wonder why nothing ever goes the way we want it.

You want those new pair of loafers, but you’re so stressed about paying bills and keeping your wife happy that you don’t even take the time to figure out a way that you could save the money for them. You want to take a trip to Athens… too bad your boss is breathing down your neck about that proposal he wants on his desk by Monday! Don’t you ever wish you could just look inside yourself, take the time to figure it all out and just do it? Well you can, with meditation. There are tons of tools and guides online to help you achieve your goals through meditation.

It’s not hard, starting with a small, five-minute session each day and gradually increasing your time as needed. All it takes is for you to set aside 30 minutes to an hour each day for you. As busy as your life is, I’m sure you can spare that. Now what you need to do is just relax. Think of what it would be like to be happy; to have your most desired feelings met. Now clear your mind. Take in the world around you, absorbing it all and channeling the feeling and spirit from everything. Cleanse your mind by removing all your negative and impure thoughts and just relaxing, being peaceful.

With a clear mind and a focused intellect, you can now set your sharply honed skills on the problems in your life. Now you have a period of time during the day where you can relax, be yourself and tackle those things you want to change but never had the time. Those shoes you wanted. What about that bonus you’re getting at the end of the month.
How about a hat trip to Athens, Well couldn’t you schedule a meeting with the president of the Athens’ facility of your company?

When you take the time to sit down, relax, and clear your mind, you are able to depend on yourself to get vital things done. Instead of relying on blackberries, pagers and laptops in this hectic world just think basic. All you need is your mind and some time alone. With these two tools, you’ll be able to rely on just yourself to solve any task that may be troubling you. Even major life decisions will become easier to make when you’re focused and relaxed.

The first step to improving your life is to improve the trust you have in yourself, only then will the rest follow. Taking the time to clear your head, enjoy life and just let yourself feel relaxed is the best strategy you could ever follow. It will not only improve the quality of your thought, but the reliability of yourself as well.
