Hobbies can lead to Self Reliance and Constructive Change

Our lives can be so filled with stress; hectic running around and constant worrying ensure we don’t have time to enjoy the things we love. Because of this, our creativity and potential are stifled heavily. We don’t realize just how much more we can achieve because we don’t give ourselves a chance to channel all of our thoughts and ideas. Therefore, instead of inventing a cure for a disease, we’re simply working 9 to 5 in a dead end job. Do you want to be able to realize your full potential and to channel it into something good? Well if you want to be able to make change in your life, you need to start by doing something very simple: Take up a hobby!

You may think of this as being silly, even ludicrous advice, but in reality, it’s going to be the major driving force in your life. In a hectic, workaday world we live in now, we hardly give ourselves time to breathe, let alone have a hobby. Because of this, all of our free flowing ideas and creativity instead manifest themselves into frustration, jealousy and anger. These negative thoughts consume us. In addition, will ultimately be our downfall.

Start by taking thirty minutes a day to yourself. Even if this seems like it will interrupt the time you need to work or to stress out about your life, it’s worth it in the end. The changes you bring about will far outweigh the minute possibility of it having a negative impact.

This is the first step, and you’ve done it. You’ve set aside time each day for you to channel your ideas and creativity into something productive. Whether it is building your stamp collection, learning to play guitar, writing a novel or simply just taking a walk, do it.  The things you love to do are being done. This will make you feel better about the kind of person you are. You will begin to like who you are much more than you did. Because your ideas and thoughts now have an outlet, they won’t build up and put pressure on you. By taking thirty minutes a day to yourself to do something fun, you have just removed a major source of stress in your life.

While seemingly simple, this process has started you on the way to a happier and healthier life. With a reduced amount of stress, you reduce your risk of illnesses like the flu, colds, ulcers and even death. Your negative stress has now been replaced with positive potential.

Starry nights, glorious sunsets, crisp summer evenings, will all start to present themselves as beautiful and interesting works of art. While they used to seem ordinary and natural, you will now see them as sources of inspiration and power.
You will begin to derive satisfaction from the experience of seeing a sunset. You might even channel your feelings into that new song you’re writing. Maybe that new song you just wrote will be good enough to get some radio play. The possibilities are endless.

You will be able to achieve everything you desire with this new and improved outlook on life. This process will let you discover your positive thoughts and ideas and use them to replace the negativity and stress that plagues you. All of the worries and problems in your life you can also channel into your hobby. Use your anger as a motivation to write an inspired poem. Use the hostile relationship with a co-worker as the basis for a short story.

Although seemingly simple, these changes will not come quickly without effort. Taking the time to do what you love and to start a hobby is the most important step. You have set the stage for becoming a better person and improving your life. Thinking positive will bring you rewards.
